Indonesia is an archipelago that two-thirds of its territory is water and is located in a strategic location because it is located in the intersection of world trade routes. Since 1960 the management of ports in Indonesia is conducted by the government through the State Company (PN) up to VIII. In 1983, CPP changed again into a Public Company (PERUM) port which is only commonly cultivated manage ports, while the management of public ports that are not cultivated by the Technical Implementation Unit of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation. PERUM port operations are divided into 4 areas established under Government Regulation No. 15 in 1983. PERUM status is then changed again into PT (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia I to IV in 1992 to the present.

PT (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia II, part one of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), which manages port services in Indonesia, was established on December 1, 1992 according to the Deed of Company Pndirian No. 3 by Notary Imas Fatimah, and the deed of amendment No. dated May 5, 1998 by Notary Imas Fatimah Bachelor of Law. Head Office of PT (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia II is located in Jakarta, has operations in 10 provincial areas and manages 12 harbors an undertaking, namely: Gulf Port Bayur in West Sumatra, Jambi in Jambi Province Harbor, Port of Palembang in South Sumatra Province, the Port Bengkulu, Bengkulu Province, Port of Long in the provinces of Lampung, Tanjung Pandan and Balam Jetty Port in the Province of Bangka Belitung, Banten Port in Banten Province, Port of Tanjung Priok and Sunda Kelapa in Manufacturing Establishments, Port of Cirebon in West Java Province and the Port of Pontianak West Kalimantan Province.

In addition, the company has three subsidiaries and two affiliated companies. The three subsidiaries are PT Harbor Hospital shareholding company with 99% and Employee Cooperative Maritime (KOPEGMAR) of 1% of PT Multi Terminal Indonesia (MTI) with the composition of PT Pelindo II 99% and Employee Cooperative Maritime (KOPEGMAR) of 1% , while other subsidiaries adlah PT Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Indonesia with PT Pelindo II shares 51% and PT Buana Sisindokom Traffic by 49%.
Afliasi company PT Pelindo II, respectively, PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) with 48.9% shareholding Pelindo II and 51% Grosbeak Pte.Ltd and Maritime Employees Cooperative (KOPEGMAR) of 1%, while at the Koja Container Terminal ( TPK Koja) which is a joint operation between PT Pelindo II (52.12%) with PT Ocean Terminal Container (47.88%) which has been operating since 1998.
Field of PT (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia II into the provision and operation:
• Irrigation and pool port for shipping traffic and where ships anchor;
• Services pilotage and tugs out into the harbor, ship navigation in the pond as well as pilotage services and the delay from one port to another port;
• Facilities for boat tie up and do the loading and unloading of goods and animals;
• Warehousing facility and yard;
• Conventional Terminal, container terminals, and terminal loading and unloading of bulk commodities to serve the appropriate type;
• Terminal passengers for embarkation and debarkation service passenger ships;
• The facilities of electricity, drinking water and telephone to the public in the area of ship and port working environment;
• Land for industrial, building and general office space;
• Education and training relating to seaport activities.
In addition to various business activities, the company has an opportunity to develop other business activities related to business activities that already exist. I. Requirements
• Maximum age 39 years as of July 1, 2011
• ANT III certified minimum
• The period of sailing as skipper of at least 3 (three) years
• Candidates willing to follow training Pandu

• Healthy and drug free
• Minimum height 160 cm
• Not color-blind and normal visual acuity (no glasses or positive and negative)
